Who Tends Our Garden?
in addition to our other Conservancy properties

The Wrigley Memorial and Botanic Garden at the end of Avalon Canyon Road, honors the memory of William Wrigley Jr., who lived from 1861 to 1932. Although best known as the founder of the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, largest manufacturer of chewing gum in the world, he also played an instrumental role in the history of Catalina Island. The 38-acre garden originated with a Desert Plant Collection which Mrs. Ada Foote Wrigley had installed in 1935 with Pasadena horticulturalist Albert Conrad. Today, the Memorial and its surrounding Garden attracts nearly 50,000 visitors every year.

How many Conservancy staff maintain this garden, the Native Plant Garden at Airport in the Sky, the Nature Center at Avalon Canyon and Conservancy House in downtown Avalon? You'll be surprised!
